Melting and PouringMoulds are inspected before closing, identified and then moved to the Casting Floor where they are suitably clamped or weighted down to avoid run-out caused by high molten metal hydraulic pressures Electric melting is conducted in a 400Kw Inductotherm Power-TrakŪ High Frequency Induction furnace. We have 4 furnace bodies each lined with different refractory materials to optimise the best requirements of the alloy being melted. One small furnace body has a 100 Kgs capacity allowing us to melt small quantities of special alloys. We have computerised all the blends used in the production of the 250 alloys currently available. All melts are checked for chemical composition before pouring using our ARLŪ 3460 Optical Spectrograph. Melting and pouring temperatures are standardised for each job and a checked using a digital dip type pyrometer. The molten metal is suitably de-oxidised and slagged off before pouring.
